About Liza
Liza started riding at 6 months old in a basket saddle! She was born into a showing background but, from the age of about three, she loudly and emphatically would never be led! This put an end to her mothers dream of starting with leading rein show ponies.
Liza joined the Pony Club and became very competitive in all disciplines. At that time, her main love was Eventing. She progressed from Pony Club teams to training with Ruth McMullen and leading several horses to Intermediate level.
Liza, accompanied by two event horses and two dogs, spent four years at Sheffield University. She gained a Bachelor of Arts Degree whilst continuing to compete each week, such is her dedication.
After University Liza went home to school horses. The initial plan was to do this part time, however so many people sent her horses to break or school that there was little time for much else.
Liza changed to pure dressage about 15 years ago when ‘entering at A' and training horses towards Grand Prix gave her more of an adrenaline buzz than galloping out of a start box!
Initially trained by David Hunt, Liza has spent several years training with Jill Day who is the Director of Training for the British Dressage Association and an International Grand Prix rider.
Liza has now broken and trained horses up to British Dressage ‘Inter 1' level and is working towards Grand Prix. She has qualified and ridden at both Regional and National level.
